Baseball Game Preview: Sammamish RedHawks vs. Interlake Saints

The Sammamish RedHawks will head out on the road to square off against the Interlake Saints at 11:00 a.m. on Monday. Sammamish's pitching crew has only allowed 1.8 runs per game this season, so Interlake's hitters will have their work cut out for them.

While Sammamish's win against Lindbergh wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The RedHawks had just enough and edged out the Eagles 8-6. The victory continues a trend for the RedHawks in their matchups with the Eagles: they've now won seven in a row.

Kolin Jaster was incredible, scoring two runs and stealing a base while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. Lincoln Castillo also deserves some recognition as he scored his first runs of the season.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Interlake). They blew past Renton 17-6 on Friday. With that win, the Saints brought their scoring average up to 6.8 runs per game.

Sam Haufe was a standout: he went 2-for-3 with four RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. Interlake is undefeated when Haufe posts two or more runs, but 2-5 otherwise. Devin Wallace was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances.

Interlake is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven games. That's provided a nice bump to their 6-5 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.1 runs over those games. As for Sammamish, they pushed their record up to 8-1 with the win, which was their third straight at home.

Sammamish took their victory against Interlake in their previous meeting back in March by a conclusive 12-1 score. Do the RedHawks have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Saints turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
