Softball Recap: Moon Valley Takes a Loss

Moon Valley had lost seven straight on the road, but on Wednesday they dropped their record down to 1-17 to make it eight. They fell 10-7 to the Goldwater Bulldogs. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Bulldogs this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 21-0 on Monday.

Vida Cedillo stepped up to lead a balanced group of hitters: she went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one double. She is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last five games she's played. Jada Young also deserves some recognition as she hit her first triple of the season.

As for Goldwater, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 6-11. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 15.5 runs over those games.

On Goldwater's side, Micaela De La Torre made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She didn't allow a single earned run over seven innings pitched. De La Torre was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in four of her five plate appearances with three stolen bases, three runs, and two doubles.

In other batting news, Goldwater let Ata-Ashur Oraha and Avrie White run wild. Oraha went 2-for-3 with three stolen bases, three runs, and one double, while White went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. Oraha continues to improve, besting her previous run total in each of the last three games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of London Farmer, who went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases and one RBI.

Moon Valley does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Goldwater, they didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, a 16-0 loss against Flagstaff on the 28th.
