Basketball Recap: Fairfield Takes a Loss

After flying high against Eldorado on Saturday, Fairfield came back down to earth. The Fairfield Mules fell just short of the Massac County Patriots by a score of 42-40 on Saturday. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Mules of the 57-51 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in December of 2019.

Massac County got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Jack Turner out in front who went 5 for 10 on his way to 18 points. Nate Eskridge was another key player, putting up eight points.

Fairfield now has a losing record at 6-7. As for Massac County, the win made it two in a row for them and also bumps their season record up to 6-7.

Fairfield will head out to challenge North Clay/Clay City at 7:00 p.m. on January 6th. As for Massac County, they will host Carbondale at 6:30 p.m. on January 4th. Massac County is facing Carbondale at the right time seeing as Carbondale is stuck on a five-game losing streak.
