Baseball Game Preview: Royalton-Hartland Rams vs. Medina Mustangs

For the first time this season, Royalton-Hartland will have a chance to prove themselves in a conference matchup. They will venture away from home to take on the Medina Mustangs at 4:45 p.m. on Tuesday.

Royalton-Hartland is headed into the matchup having just suffered their biggest defeat since April 23, 2024 on Sunday. They came up short against Maryvale, falling 11-3.

Royalton-Hartland saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Isaac Smith, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI and one double.

Meanwhile, Medina strolled into their game on Friday with a perfect record and they left with the same. They never let Depew get on the board and left with a 9-0 victory. That looming 9-0 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for the Mustangs yet this season.

Preston Woodworth was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit (and not a single walk). He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one hit any time he's pitched this season. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. Those runs were his first of the season.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Vinny Gray, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with two stolen bases and two runs. Another player making a difference was Aidan Papaj, who went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases and two runs.

Royalton-Hartland couldn't quite finish off Medina in their previous matchup back in May of 2024 and fell 3-1. Can the Rams avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
