The Carbondale Terriers will square off against the Mascoutah Indians at 7:00  p.m.  on Friday. Carbondale has given up an average of 28.1  points per game this season, but Friday's  game will give them a chance to turn things around.
On Friday, Carbondale was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap  as they fell  39-35 to Marion.
 The match pitted two dominant  signal callers against one another in  Davin Wooley and  Callahan Roper. Roper had a great game and threw for 273 yards and one  TD. Meanwhile,  Wooley was balling out in the loss, throwing for 268 yards and a pair of  touchdowns, while also rushing for 66 yards and one  score.
Meanwhile,  Mascoutah unfortunately witnessed the end of their  five-game winning streak on Friday. They fell just short of Highland by a score of  13-10. The Indians gained 169 more yards on the day, but it was the Bulldogs that made the best use of them.
Carbondale will have to keep a close watch on  Noah Collins and  Nygel Bowers, a pair of players who had a big impact on Mascoutah's prior game. Collins rushed for 133 yards, while  Bowers rushed for 83 yards.
 Don't try to pin the team's loss on the defense: they kept the trenches locked down and allowed a mere 1.4 yards per carry. The team can thank  Cameron Casey for the heroic effort on defense: he. Mascoutah's ground attack was stronger, having averaged 5.3.
 Mascoutah's defense didn't let  Blake Gelly, get away unscathed either: they got into the backfield for three sacks. The team can thank three different players for their defensive prowess:  Casey,  Riley Royer,  and  Jordan Beck, who each picked up one  sack apiece. Mascoutah got some further help from  Casey: he picked up  a  sack and made 11 total tackles.
 Carbondale's defeat dropped their record down to 3-5. As for Mascoutah, their  loss was their first in the conference, dropping their conference record down to 4-1 and their overall record down to 5-3.
