Baseball Recap: Saint Viator Takes a Loss

While it was Saint Viator who put the first runs on the board on Monday, it was St. Patrick who put up more. The Lions took a 5-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Shamrocks. The Lions were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Shamrocks apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in April of 2024.

Saint Viator got a good showing from Lincoln Sernel, who pitched 3.2 innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. Sernel has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two hits in four consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Jonathan Tschanz made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 1-for-2 with three stolen bases and one run.

This is the second loss in a row for Saint Viator and nudges their season record down to 9-12. As for St. Patrick, they have been performing well recently as they've won 11 of their last 14 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-9 record this season.

While Saint Viator had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 7:15 p.m. on Wednesday.
