Basketball Recap: Enka Jets vs. A.C. Reynolds Rockets
Enka lost against A.C. Reynolds back in January, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Enka Jets were beaten by the A.C. Reynolds Rockets 74-20. While losing is never fun, the Jets can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 269th, while the Rockets are ranked 47th).
A.C. Reynolds found their leader in sophomore Addy Mitchell, who went 5-for-6 on her way to 12 points along with five rebounds and four steals. Mitchell continues to improve, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played. Another player making a difference was Lucy Skierczynski, who posted seven points and five steals.
Enka has traveled a rocky road recently having lost 11 of their last 13 matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 7-18 record this season. The win made it two in a row for A.C. Reynolds and bumps their season record up to 16-9.
Coming up, Enka will head out on the road to take on Stuart W. Cramer at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Stuart W. Cramer will roll in looking for their tenth straight victory, something Enka surely won't give up without a fight. As for A.C. Reynolds, they have already played their next game, a 67-41 loss against McDowell on the 22nd.
