Volleyball Recap: Mercyhurst Prep Lakers vs. Iroquois Braves
Mercyhurst Prep was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They were a single set away from ending the streak, but they lost a 3-2 heartbreaker at the hands of the Iroquois Braves. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Lakers of the 3-2 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in September of 2024.
Mercyhurst Prep came incredibly close to winning: the sets they lost were decided by three points or less. The final score came out to 24-26, 25-23, 25-23, 19-25, 16-14.
Iroquois found their leader in sophomore Paisley Cook, who had 18 digs and two assists. Cook is on a roll when it comes to digs, as she's now had 14 or more in each of the last four games she's played.
Mercyhurst Prep's loss dropped their record down to 2-5. As for Iroquois, their win was their first in the conference, bumping their conference record up to 1-2 and their overall record up to 8-5-2.
