Baseball Game Preview: Vista del Lago Eagles vs. Ponderosa Bruins

For the second straight game, Vista del Lago will face off against Ponderosa. The Eagles will square off against the Bruins at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. Vista del Lago will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each matchup than the last.

Last Tuesday, Vista del Lago sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 10-9 victory over Ponderosa.

Jacoby Jones looked comfortable as he tossed three innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. He is becoming a predictor of Vista del Lago's success: when he allows at most two earned runs the team is undefeated (and 6-7 when he doesn't).

On the hitting side, Vista del Lago let Tyler Bolyard and Jack Cromwell run wild. Bolyard went 2-for-4 with one triple, one run, and one double, while Cromwell went 2-for-3 with two runs and one triple. Another player making a difference was Trevor Kaestner, who scored a run while going 2-for-3.

Vista del Lago kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. That's the most hits they've posted since back in March of 2024.

Vista del Lago pushed their record up to 12-7 with the win, which was their third straight at home. As for Ponderosa, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost 12 of their last 13 games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-12 record this season.
