The Nebraska Lutheran Knights will face off against the Lawrence-Nelson Raiders at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The squads are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: Nebraska Lutheran has struggled recently with eight losses in a row, while Lawrence-Nelson will arrive with four straight victories.
Nebraska Lutheran is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They fell just short of Giltner by a score of 70-68 on Friday. Even if the Knights couldn't come away with the win, the high-scoring effort was a great turnaround for their offense, which had struggled int the games prior.
Nebraska Lutheran might have lost, but man, Carson Malchow was a machine: he rushed for 262 yards and six scores while picking up 8.5 yards per carry, and also threw for 254 yards and a pair of touchdowns. Malchow was no stranger to the big play, turning on the jets for a run that went for 66 yards. Nebraska Lutheran's leading receiver Weston Koontz was Malchow's top target yet again, picking up 168 receiving yards and a pair of TDs.

Even if they lost, Nebraska Lutheran's defensive line still kept up the pressure with four sacks. In fact, those sacks all came courtesy of defensive juggernaut Tucker Murray. He also set a new season-high mark in total tackles with 22.
Meanwhile, Lawrence-Nelson won against Bruning-Davenport/Shickley last Friday with 42 points and they decided to stick to that point total again on Friday. The Raiders walked away with a 42-30 victory over Deshler.
Nebraska Lutheran better keep an eye on Wyatt Frey. He was instrumental in Lawrence-Nelson's win, rushing for 254 yards and three scores while picking up 10.2 yards per carry. That's the most rushing yards Frey has posted since back in September of 2024. Another player making a difference was Jackson Williams, who rushed for 76 yards and three touchdowns.
Lawrence-Nelson didn't let much get past them through the air: they limited Deshler to a completion percentage of just 40%. The Raiders hasn't an opponent to post a completion percentage of 0.33 or higher in three consecutive contests.
Nebraska Lutheran's defeat dropped their record down to 0-5. As for Lawrence-Nelson, their win bumped their record up to 4-1.
Nebraska Lutheran was dealt a bruising 80-26 loss at the hands of Lawrence-Nelson in their previous matchup back in October of 2024. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Williams, who rushed for 96 yards and three TDs on only six carries. Now that the Knights know the damage he can cause, will they be able to stop him this time? There's only one way to find out.
