Baseball Game Preview: Westside Rams vs. Fountain Inn Fury

The Westside Rams will face off against the Fountain Inn Fury at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Westside 3.6, Fountain Inn 3) so any runs scored will be well earned.

On Friday, Westside didn't have quite enough to beat Laurens and fell 5-4. The Rams have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Jaxson Barbee was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he struck out eight batters over six innings while giving up just one earned (and three unearned) runs off six hits (and not a single walk).

At the plate, Jace Haynes made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI. Those two RBI gave him a new career-high. MJ Lee also deserves some recognition as he scored his first run of the season.

Meanwhile, Fountain Inn hadn't done well against Powdersville recently (they were 0-4 in their previous four matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Wednesday. Fountain Inn had just enough and edged out Powdersville 5-4. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Fury have posted since May 2, 2024.

Brayden Passmore looked comfortable as he tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up a single walk any time he's pitched this season.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Carter Kelly, who went 1-for-4 with one home run.

Fountain Inn has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 8-2-1 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.8 runs over those games. Westside's defeat dropped their record down to 6-2.
