Softball Recap: Make It Five in a Row for Burleson

Burleson had already won four in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 12.5 runs) and they went ahead and made it five on Tuesday. They were the clear victors by an 11-1 margin over the Mansfield Summit Jaguars. Considering the Elks have won 14 matches by more than five runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

Calli Gourley was incredible, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, three RBI, and one stolen base. She also hit a double, marking her first of the season. Another player making a difference was Lanie Bedwell, who scored two runs while going 1-for-1.

Burleson pushed their record up to 19-5 with the victory, which was their seventh straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.1 runs over those games. As for Mansfield Summit, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost eight of their last nine contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-9 record this season.

We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Burleson is set to take on their familiar foe Seguin at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Meanwhile, Mansfield Summit will challenge rival Mansfield Timberview at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
