Basketball Game Preview: Gorham Rams vs. Cheverus Stags

The Gorham Rams will head out on the road to take on the Cheverus Stags at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. Gorham is coming into the contest on a five-game losing streak.

On Thursday, Gorham was beaten by Windham 78-48. While losing is never fun, the Rams can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Maine basketball rankings (they are ranked 68th, while the Eagles are ranked first).

Meanwhile, Cheverus greeted the New Year with with a 58-43 victory over Edward Little. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Stags.

Cheverus' win was their seventh straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 7-1. As for Gorham, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-7.

Gorham ended up a good deal behind Cheverus in their previous meeting back in January of 2024, losing 51-37. Can Gorham avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
