Recap: Omaha Westside Warriors vs. Millard North Mustangs
On Tuesday, the Omaha Westside Warriors faced the Millard North Mustangs in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Omaha Westside ended up on the wrong side of a rough 76-56 walloping at the hands of Millard North. Omaha Westside's defeat signaled the end of their four-game winning streak.
Several Warriors players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Caleb Benning, who scored 14 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Benning has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Kevin Stubblefield, who scored 14 points along with five rebounds.
Millard North's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Elijah Gaeth led the charge by scoring 29 points along with seven assists and four steals. Gaeth is on a roll when it comes to points, as he's now scored 15 or more in the last three games he's played. Derek Rollins was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on 24 points and 14 rebounds.
Omaha Westside's loss dropped their record down to 11-4. As for Millard North, their win was their sixth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 13-2.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Omaha Westside will take on Millard West at 7:15 p.m. on Friday. Millard West is coming into the matchup on a three-game losing streak. As for Millard North, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Papillion-LaVista South at 7:15 p.m. on Friday. Papillion-LaVista South will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Nebraska Rankings (they are ranked 42nd, while Millard North is ranked third).
