Basketball Recap: Meridian Comes Up Short

Meridian was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their 14th straight loss. They received a blow as they fell 58-40 to the Bruning-Davenport/Shickley Eagles. If the Mustangs were looking for revenge after losing 66-46 to them when the teams met, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Despite the defeat, Meridian saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Maddox Haake posted 18 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jayton Jones, who put up nine points and five boards.

Meridian's loss dropped their record down to 1-15. As for Bruning-Davenport/Shickley, the win snapped their losing streak at three games and leaves them with a 7-9 record.

When Meridian and Bruning-Davenport/Shickley next hit the court, they'll be up against teams who recently just can't seem to lose. Meridian will square off against High Plains and their six-game winning streak at 7:30 p.m. on February 4th. Meanwhile, Bruning-Davenport/Shickley will try to stop East Butler's 15-game winning streak when the meet at 7:30 p.m. on Monday.
