Softball Recap: Defiance Drops Highest Score of Season Against Columbus Grove

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Defiance). They never let Columbus Grove get on the board and left with a 13-0 win on Saturday. Considering Defiance has won four games by more than five runs this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.

Natalie Ordway made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out nine over five innings pitched. Those nine strikeouts gave her a new career-high. She was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 1-for-2.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Addison Miller, who went 3-for-4 with three doubles, two runs, and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Bella Gutierrez, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-3.

Defiance always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .586. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Columbus Grove only posted an OBP of .167.

Defiance's victory ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 7-3. As for Columbus Grove, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-4.
