Softball Recap: Granite Falls Comes Up Short

Granite Falls blew South Whidbey out of the water the last time the pair played, but on Thursday South Whidbey got their revenge. The Tigers fell just short of the Falcons by a score of 7-5. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat the Tigers have suffered since May 8, 2024.

Bella Frye put in work while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over six innings while giving up just one earned (and six unearned) runs off five hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts in three consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with one triple, two RBI, and one run.

Frye wasn't the only one making solid contact as two players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Anacely Syson, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base and one run.

Granite Falls' loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 6-6. As for South Whidbey, the win got them back to even at 5-5.

Granite Falls wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next contest, a 15-0 victory against Sultan on the 26th. As for South Whidbey, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, a 14-1 win against Auburn on the 26th.
