Softball Recap: 12 Straight Home Victories for Destrehan

Destrehan won the last time they faced South Terrebonne and things went their way on Wednesday too. The Wildcats came out on top against the Gators by a score of 8-3. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Wildcats.

Jolie Lozano made a splash no matter where she played. She tossed six innings while giving up three earned runs off six hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 14 consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with one double.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Ava Burkett, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. Another player making a difference was Rylie Staton, who scored a run while going 1-for-3.

Destrehan was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .429. They are 12-1 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

Destrehan's victory was their 12th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 19-9. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.5 runs over those games. As for South Terrebonne, they moved to 8-9-1 with that defeat, which also ended their four-game winning streak.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Destrehan will welcome Riverdale at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. As for South Terrebonne, they will be playing at home against Covenant Christian Academy at 4:00 p.m. on Friday.
