Softball Recap: Gateway College Preparatory Snags 14th Victory in Last 16 Games

Gateway College Preparatory won the last time they faced Taylor and things went their way on Thursday too. The Gators walked away with a 6-1 victory over the Ducks.

Chloe Ellis made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out 17 batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned run off seven hits (and not a single walk). She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one walk in seven consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with one home run and two RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Natalee VanTassel, who went 3-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and one double. That's the most hits she has posted since back in February. Tara Bryson was another key player, going a perfect 4-for-4 with two runs and one double.

Gateway College Preparatory has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 14 of their last 16 matches. That lines up perfectly with their 20-2-2 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.2 runs over those games. As for Taylor, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 7-15.
