Softball Recap: Dawson-Bryant Extends Home Winning Streak to Ten

Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Dawson-Bryant walked away with it. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Peebles Indians a 2-0 shutout on Friday. The Hornets haven't had any issues with the Indians recently, as the game was their third consecutive win against them.

Not much got past Abbie Deeds, who gave up just two hits and racked up 11 Ks to keep Peebles off the board. Deeds has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than ten strikeouts in 19 consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Izzy Kitts, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two doubles and one stolen base. That's the most doubles she has posted since back in April of 2024. Kendall Taylor was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs and one stolen base.

Dawson-Bryant pushed their record up to 18-4 with the victory, which was their tenth straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.0 run on average over those games. As for Peebles, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost ten of their last 12 games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-15 record this season.

Dawson-Bryant will face off against Portsmouth West on Wednesday. The Senators will roll in looking for their fifth straight victory, something the Hornets surely won't give up without a fight. Peebles does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
