Softball Recap: Charlotte Catholic Comes Up Short

Charlotte Catholic lost against Independence back in March, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Cougars fell 5-1 to the Patriots. The Cougars have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Rachel Wildman spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned (and two unearned) runs on seven hits and racked up eight Ks. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in nine consecutive appearances.

Charlotte Catholic's defeat dropped their record down to 6-5. As for Independence, they pushed their record up to 12-2 with the victory, which was their seventh straight at home.

Charlotte Catholic didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next matchup, a 5-1 win against Myers Park on the 2nd. As for Independence, they will host West Cabarrus at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Patriots' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Wolverines have averaged an impressive 6.3 runs per game this season.
