Softball Recap: Amanda-Clearcreek Takes a Loss

Amanda-Clearcreek extended their losing streak to three on Friday, dropping their season record down to 7-11 in the process. They came up short against the Bloom-Carroll Bulldogs, falling 15-2. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Bulldogs this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 15-4 back in April.

Casadee Steinmetz made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 1-for-2 with one home run.

As for Bloom-Carroll, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 20-2. The result was nothing new for the Bulldogs, who have now won 15 contests by seven runs or more so far this season.

On Bloom-Carroll's side, Emma Brandt was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching five innings while giving up just two earned runs off five hits. Brandt has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two doubles and one RBI.

In other batting news, Bloom-Carroll got a massive performance out of Madi Grefe, who went 2-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. Another player making a difference was Ady Luke, who went 2-for-3 with four RBI and two runs.

Looking ahead, Amanda-Clearcreek will host Southeastern at 5:15 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Bloom-Carroll, they will head out to challenge Hayes at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Bulldogs 3.1, the Pacers 1.5) so any runs scored will be well earned.
