SIOUX FALLS, S.D. - the Warriors scored 34 points in the second quarter to secure a big 48-0 victory over Brookings (S.D.) on Saturday.
Washington scored on a touchdown pass by
Jon Hander to
Nathan Gerry, a touchdown run by Hander, a
Sam Cooke touchdown run, a touchdown run by Cooke and a Hander touchdown pass to
Ty Wiley in the quarter.
After taking the lead on a
Luke Reiter touchdown run in the first quarter, WHS led 41-0 at the half.
The Sioux Falls school expanded its lead to 48 points entering the fourth quarter. The Warriors' lone score in the quarter came on a touchdown run by Cooke.
With the win Washington extended its winning streak to 11 games. WHS defeated the Rough Riders 40-6 last week.
Hander stood out for the Warriors in the win. The senior quarterback threw two touchdowns and ran for one touchdown. He has now scored five touchdowns on the season.
Led by Gerry, Washington went into the matchup giving up only 5.8 points per game. The zero points that the Bobcats ended with were well below their average of 18.2 coming into the game.
The loss comes after Brookings defeated Rapid City Central 22-6 last week.
WHS (11-0) will play a playoff game against O'Gorman next week. The Knights go into the week with a record of 7-3.
