Kaylee Schultz made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two hits in three consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-2 with two runs. That's the most runs she has posted since back in May of 2024.
In other batting news, Lauren Komorek was incredible, going 3-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base.
Hubbard hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as St. Vincent-St. Mary struck out seven times.
Meanwhile, Poland Seminary came up short against South Range on Thursday and fell 8-3. The Bulldogs have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Poland Seminary saw seven different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Leanna Boccieri, who went 1-for-2 with one RBI.
Poland Seminary's loss dropped their record down to 11-9. As for Hubbard, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last eight games. That's provided a nice bump to their 12-7 record this season.
Friday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Hubbard hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .325. However, it's not like Poland Seminary struggles in that department as they've averaged .380. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Hubbard came out on top in a nail-biter against Poland Seminary in their previous matchup back in April, sneaking past 9-7. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Eagles since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
