Game recap: Upperman High School Football Team beats York Institute

After taking the lead on a Connor York touchdown pass to Gabe Luna in the first quarter, Upperman (Baxter, Tenn.) led 35-0 at the half.

The Bees expanded their lead to 49 points entering the fourth quarter. Upperman scored two times in the third, including once on a York touchdown pass to Robert Stepehenson.

Upperman's York scored two touchdowns on the ground in the victory.

Upperman's standout player in the win was York.

The Baxter school came into the game allowing 12.4 points per game.



The Bees avenged last year's 34-22 loss to York Institute (Jamestown, Tenn.) with the victory.

The defeat comes as a step back for York Institute, who notched a 33-14 victory over Cumberland County in its previous outing.

York Institute (3-4) will play a AA District 8 game against DeKalb County next week, while Upperman (6-0) will take on Macon County also in a AA District 8 game.
