Softball Recap: Lawrenceburg's Win Ends Four-Game Losing Streak at Home

While Lawrenceburg's victory against Franklin County wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Tigers sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 9-7 win over the Wildcats on Monday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Tigers have posted since April 2nd.

Izabella Miller made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out seven batters over four innings while giving up just one earned (and five unearned) runs off eight hits. That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in April. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and one double.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Erica Sizemore, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double. That double marked the first that she has hit this season. Another player making a difference was Ella Lynam, who went 2-for-4 with two RBI and one run.

Lawrenceburg was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .382. They are a perfect 6-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

Lawrenceburg's win ended a four-game drought at home and bumped them up to 9-6. As for Franklin County, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 9-9.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Lawrenceburg will square off against Ryle at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Franklin County, they will challenge Rushville at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Wildcats are facing the Lions at the right time seeing as the Lions are stuck on a four-game losing streak.
