The matchup between Shannon and Pontotoc on Friday hardly resembled the 21-0 effort from their previous meeting. The Red Raiders blew past the Warriors, posting a 65-29 win. That 36 point margin sets a new team best for the Red Raiders this season.

Shannon got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Dashaun Clifton out in front who threw for 215 yards and three touchdowns on only 18 passes. Those three passing touchdowns gave Clifton a new career-high. Braylen Deans helped Clifton out on the ground, rushing for 70 yards and a pair of TDs.

Despite the loss, Pontotoc still got an impressive performance from Courtland Pass, who rushed for 129 yards and two scores while picking up 8.1 yards per carry. The Warriors also got a significant boost from Markavion Jones, who ran away from the competition to the tune of 101 yards.

Shannon pushed their record up to 4-2 with the win, which was their sixth straight on the road dating back to last season. The road victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they've averaged 41.5 points this season. As for Pontotoc, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 3-2.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming contests. Shannon will challenge Houston at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Red Raiders will be up against the Hilltoppers' rather soft defense (which has allowed 40.67 points per matchup), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance. As for Pontotoc, they will face off against West Point at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Green Wave's defense has only allowed 12.6 points per game this season, so the Warriors' offense will have their work cut out for them.
