Game recap: Columbine High School Football Team wins against Grand Junction

LITTLETON, Colo. - the Rebels had a big 28-point second quarter on Saturday, sealing a 41-6 victory over Grand Junction (Colo.).

Columbine scored on a touchdown run by Jeremy Aparicio, a Michael Tait touchdown run, a touchdown run by Aparicio and a Tait touchdown pass to Austin Norton in the quarter.

After taking the lead on an Norton touchdown run in the first quarter, CHS led 35-0 at the half.

The Littleton school grew its lead to 41 points entering the fourth quarter. The Rebels scored once in the quarter on a Aparicio touchdown run.

With the win Columbine extended its winning streak to six games. Columbine defeated Hinkley 57-27 last week.

Grand Junction's lone touchdown came on a 1-yard run by Austin Lewis in the fourth quarter.



CHS entered the contest giving up 23.0 points per game this year. The Littleton school held firm on the defensive front, and kept the Tigers well below the 39.3 points it had been averaging per game.

When the two teams played each other last season, the Rebels came away with a 37-20 victory.

The defeat comes as a step back for Grand Junction, which notched a 32-8 victory over Westminster in its previous outing. The loss broke Grand Junction's three-game winning streak.
