Basketball Game Preview: Suncoast Chargers vs. Matanzas Pirates

The Suncoast Chargers and the Matanzas Pirates will face off at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday without much rest having both just played. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.

Suncoast's tournament run continued when they took on Raines on Friday. Suncoast came out on top against Raines by a score of 62-49. Given the Chargers' advantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 135th, while the Vikings are ranked 280th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, Matanzas waltzed into their contest on Friday with three straight wins... but they left with four. They blew past the Sandcrabs 77-48. The Pirates have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won five games by 21 points or more this season.

Matanzas is also on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight matches, which provided a nice bump to their 9-7 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 66.4 points per game. As for Suncoast, their victory bumped their record up to 11-5.
