Softball Recap: McMinn County Comes Up Short

After flying high against Meigs County on Monday, McMinn County came back down to earth. McMinn County lost 15-1 to the Walker Valley Mustangs on Tuesday. The Cherokees were not able to make up for their defeat to the Mustangs from their previous meeting back in May of 2024.

McMinn County's loss dropped their record down to 3-9. As for Walker Valley, they are on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last ten games. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-2 record this season.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. McMinn County will host McMinn Central at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. McMinn County's pitchers better be ready for this one: McMinn Central has averaged an impressive 7.2 runs per game this season. As for Walker Valley, they will look to defend their home field on Monday against Bradley Central at 5:30 p.m.
