Football Recap: Unicoi County Comes Up Short

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Unicoi County can now relate to. They were outmatched by the Tyner Academy Rams and fell 56-28. While losing is never fun, the Blue Devils can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Tennessee football rankings (they are ranked 139th, while the Rams are ranked 31st).

Several Blue Devils players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Kolby Jones, who threw for 197 yards and four TDs, and also rushed for 38 yards. Blaze Rice also helped with two touchdowns in total.

With the defeat, Unicoi County broke their six-game winning streak and moved their record to 9-3. As for Tyner Academy, their victory was their ninth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 11-1.

Unicoi County does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Tyner Academy, they will face off against Giles County at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
