Soccer Game Preview: Cottonwood vs. Murray

Cottonwood is 0-4 against Murray since April of 2015 but things could change on Friday. Cottonwood will be playing at home against Murray at 3:30 p.m. Cottonwood has given up an average of 3.7 goals per game this season, but Friday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Cottonwood is headed into Friday's game looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their fourth straight game on Tuesday. They came up short against Park City, falling 7-0.

Meanwhile, Murray put another one in the bag on Tuesday to keep their perfect season alive. They came within a single goal of losing the streak, but they secured a 3-2 W against Stansbury. Given Murray's advantage in MaxPreps' Utah soccer rankings (they are ranked fifth, while Stansbury are ranked 46th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Murray hit Stansbury with a three-pronged attack, as the team got scores from Carlos Nieto-Rosales, Jason Adams, and Bracken Overby.

Murray pushed their record up to 6-0 with the victory, which was their fifth straight at home. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 26 goals over those five matches. As for Cottonwood, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-6.

Cottonwood couldn't quite get it done against Murray in their previous matchup back in April of 2024 as they fell 2-0. Can Cottonwood avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
