Recap: Arickaree Bison vs. Bethune Bobcats

In what's become a running theme this season, the Arickaree Bison gave their fans yet another huge win on Friday. They blew past Bethune 67-25 on the road. Given Arickaree's advantage in MaxPreps' Colorado basketball rankings (they are ranked 121st, while Bethune is ranked 338th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Arickaree's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but AUSTIN WRIGHT led the charge by scoring 18 points along with nine rebounds and five blocks. WRIGHT continues to roll, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of NICHOLAS HERMES, who scored 17 points along with three steals.

When it comes to explaining why Bethune lost, one person who can't be blamed is Ty Morris. Despite the final result, he scored 13 points. That was a full 52% of Bethune's points, marking the fourth time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points.

Bethune struggled to work together and finished the game with only three assists. They were crushed by their opponents in that department as Arickaree racked up 12 assists.

Arickaree's win was their ninth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 11-1. They've been dominating during the matches in that stretch too, as they've won by an average of 29.78 points. As for Bethune, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-7.

Arickaree will head out on the road to take on Lone Star at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Lone Star is coming into the matchup on a four-game losing streak. Bethune won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Pikes Peak Christian at 2:30 p.m. on January 20th. Hopefully Pikes Peak Christian focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 23 on Friday.
