Football Recap: Rahiem Saunders' Menacing Defense Leads Beaufort Academy over Carolina Academy

Beaufort Academy was not the first on the board on Friday, but they got there more often. They walked away with a 41-28 win over the Carolina Academy Bobcats. The Eagles pushed the score to 33-13 by the end of the third, a deficit the Bobcats cut but never quite recovered from.

Nych Underwood had a dynamite game, rushing for 366 yards and four scores while picking up 14.1 yards per carry. Those 366 rushing yards gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Nic Shuford, who rushed for 42 yards.

Another reason for the win was Beaufort Academy's imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for three sacks. In that department, Rahiem Saunders was the leader with two. Underwood got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.

Beaufort Academy has started the season off flawlessly and has a 2-0 record to show for it. The victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they've averaged 38.5 points this season. As for Carolina Academy, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-1.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Beaufort Academy will take on St. John's Christian Academy at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Carolina Academy, they will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Dillon Christian at 7:30 p.m. on September 5.
