Volleyball Game Preview: Rise Kohyang Tritons vs. Animo De La Hoya Boxers

Rise Kohyang hasn't had much luck against Animo De La Hoya recently, but that could start to change on Wednesday. The Rise Kohyang Tritons will head out on the road to face off against the Animo De La Hoya Boxers at 2:00 p.m. Rise Kohyang will be coming into the matchup with an undefeated record on the line.

Rise Kohyang made up a huge gap compared to their last game against Stern, but they still couldn't quite topple them. Rise Kohyang put the hurt on Stern with a sharp 3-0 win on Wednesday.

Rise Kohyang walked away with the victory (and looked especially good in the second set). The match finished with set scores of 25-19, 25-15, 25-19.

Rise Kohyang relied on the efforts of Elvis Garcia, who had 29 assists and two aces, and Emanuel Alcazar, who had seven digs and six aces. That's the most aces Alcazar has posted since back in April of 2024.

Meanwhile, Animo De La Hoya was able to grind out a solid win over Sotomayor on Friday, taking the game 3-1. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Boxers.

Animo De La Hoya had a slow start but a hot finish: after dropping the first set, they turned around to win the next three. The final score came out to 17-25, 25-18, 25-21, 25-15.

Animo De La Hoya's record is now 4-1. As for Rise Kohyang, their victory was their fourth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 4-0.

Rise Kohyang might still be hurting after the 3-0 defeat they got from Animo De La Hoya when the teams last played back in April of 2024. Can Rise Kohyang avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
