Basketball Recap: Ponca Wins Going Away Against Winnebago

You can't lose the game if you win every quarter, and that was precisely Ponca's strategy against Winnebago on Thursday. The Ponca Indians took down the Winnebago Indians 49-33. For Ponca, this counts as revenge for the 51-43 victory Winnebago walked away with the last time they faced one another back in January of 2023.

Despite the defeat, Winnebago saw an underclassman step up: freshman Darrius LaPointe posted nine points.

Ponca's record now sits at 12-4. As for Winnebago, they moved to 7-8 with that loss, which also ended their three-game winning streak.

Ponca is taking a road trip to square off against Cedar Catholic on Tuesday. As for Winnebago, they won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Randolph at 8:00 p.m. on Friday. Winnebago is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 57.1 points per game this season.
