Basketball Recap: Memphis Yellowjackets vs. Vassar Vulcans
Memphis was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their 27th straight loss dating back to last season. They were outmatched by the Vassar Vulcans and fell 68-39. The Yellowjackets lost against the Vulcans in their previous head to head back in December of 2021, too, but the margin this time around was even wider than the 49-46 score last time.
It was another big night for Austin Long, who went 8 of 16 en route to 21 points along with eight assists and six boards for Vassar. Long's evening made it four games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Bryce Brown, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and 12 boards.
Memphis' defeat dropped their record down to 0-5. As for Vassar, the victory keeps them at an undefeated 4-0.
Memphis will venture away from home to take on Bad Axe at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Vassar, they will host Saginaw Arts & Sciences Academy at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Vassar is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 58.5 points per game this season.
