Volleyball Recap: Pflugerville Connally Comes Up Short

Pflugerville Connally lost against Southwest back in August of 2024, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Saturday. The Cougars took a 2-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Dragons.

Caroline Benge paced Pflugerville Connally's offense, picking up five kills. Benge also shared the team's lead in assists with Alison Villanueva-Lopez: they picked up four each. Benge was also solid from the service line: she led the team with four aces.

Southwest can attribute much of their success to Amaya Garcia, who had 13 digs and three aces. That's the most aces Garcia has posted since back in September of 2024. Mayra Medina also deserves some recognition as she posted her first assist of the season.

Pflugerville Connally has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost eight of their last nine contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 2-13 record this season. As for Southwest, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 4-11.

Pflugerville Connally has already played their next matchup, a 3-0 loss against Gateway College Preparatory on the 26th. As for Southwest, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 2-1 victory against East View on the 23rd.
