Softball Recap: Sonora Victorious

Sonora lost to Yorba Linda back in February of 2023, but they didn't allow them the same satisfaction on Thursday. Sonora narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past Yorba Linda 3-1. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Raiders.

Bayle Hunnicutt spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered a run (which was unearned) on six hits and racked up six Ks.

On the hitting side, Aliana Pacheco was excellent, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two doubles and one RBI. Those two doubles gave her a new career-high. Brooke Piwowar was another key player, scoring a run while going 1-for-2.

Sonora's record is now 12-2. As for Yorba Linda, with the loss, they broke their three-game winning streak and moved their record to 7-7.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Sonora will welcome El Dorado at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Yorba Linda, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Crean Lutheran at 3:15 p.m. on Tuesday.
