Baseball Recap: Springport Now 4-1 over Last Five Games

Springport lost to Concord back in May of 2024, but they didn't allow them the same satisfaction on Tuesday. The Spartans walked away with a 6-3 victory over the Yellowjackets.

Springport let Gibson Overweg and Gavin Lightner run wild. Overweg went 1-for-3 with one home run, while Lightner went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases and one run. Another player making a difference was Travis Riehle, who went 1-for-2 with two RBI.

Springport always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .515. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Concord only posted an OBP of .361.

Springport has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five games. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-3 record this season. As for Concord, they have been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-7 record this season.

Springport will welcome Hillsdale at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Concord, they will head out to take on Colon at 5:00 p.m. on Monday.
