Football Game Preview: Holy Cross Knights vs. Xaverian Clippers

The Holy Cross Knights will take on the Xaverian Clippers at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. Holy Cross' defense has only allowed 14.9 points per game this season, so Xaverian's offense will have their work cut out for them.

Holy Cross is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Saturday. They snuck past Christ the King with a 14-8 win. Winning may never get old, but the Knights sure are getting used to it with their fourth in a row.

Madden Martinez looked great while leading his team to the win, rushing for 51 yards and two scores on only six carries, while also throwing for 132 yards on 12 of 25 attempts. Those two rushing touchdowns gave him a new career-high.

Meanwhile, Xaverian's offense rose to the challenge against a Titans defense that boasted an average of only 14.55 points allowed on Saturday. The Clippers walked away with a 33-20 victory over Holy Trinity.

Holy Cross better keep an eye on Richard Aiken. He was instrumental in Xaverian's win, rushing for 174 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 10.9 yards per carry. They are undefeated when Aiken posts two or more rushing touchdowns, but 3-4 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Christian LaRocca, who picked up 94 receiving yards and a pair of TDs.

Holy Cross' record is now 7-3. As for Xaverian, their record now sits at 7-4.

Holy Cross came up short against Xaverian in their previous matchup back in November of 2024, falling 14-6. Can the Knights avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
