Baseball Recap: Tyler Comes Up Short

Tyler lost against Jacksonville back in February of 2024, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Saturday. The Tyler Lions lost 14-4 to the Jacksonville Fightin' Indians. The Lions just can't catch a break and have now endured three defeats in a row.

Tyler saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Malachi Deleon, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 3-for-3. The dominant performance gave Deleon a new career-high in runs. Another was Kaleb Hall, who went 1-for-2 with one double and one RBI.

Tyler's record is now 4-13. As for Jacksonville, their victory ended a seven-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 2-10.

Tyler and Jacksonville could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps Texas Rankings. Tyler will challenge Whitehouse at 4:30 p.m. on Friday down 811 places (1025 vs. 214). Tyler has given up an average of 9.2 runs per game this season, so hopefully the team got some pitching drills in this week. Meanwhile, Jacksonville (ranked 974th) will meet Hallsville (ranked 29th) at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
