Football Recap: Nolan Ramirez and Matthew Garza Secure Win for Pharr-San Juan-Alamo Memorial

Pharr-San Juan-Alamo Memorial's game last Thursday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Friday. They enjoyed a cozy 20-6 victory over the Rivera Raiders. The Wolverines' offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.

A big part of Pharr-San Juan-Alamo Memorial's win came down to the chemistry between Nolan Ramirez and his top target Matthew Garza. Ramirez threw for 148 yards and one TD on only 12 passes while Garza gained 127 total yards and two touchdowns. Garza's longest reception was for an incredible 70 yards. Pharr-San Juan-Alamo Memorial also got a significant boost from Miguel Olvera, who ran away from the competition to the tune of 89 yards.

Despite the loss, Rivera still got an impressive performance from Gabriel Gonzalez, who rushed for 106 yards on only 14 carries.

Pharr-San Juan-Alamo Memorial's first victory this season bumped their record up to 1-4. As for Rivera, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-5.

Pharr-San Juan-Alamo Memorial didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, a 35-20 win against Donna North on the 10th. As for Rivera, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next matchup, a 20-0 loss against Weslaco East on the 10th.
