Football Recap: John Paul II Comes Up Short at Home Against St. Anthony

John Paul II unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-field advantage in their season opener. They had to suffer through a 42-12 loss at the hands of the St. Anthony Yellowjackets. The Centurions were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 28-6.

When it comes to explaining why John Paul II lost on Friday, don't look at Randy Garcia. Despite the final result, he rushed for 68 yards and one TD, and also threw for 125 yards and one touchdown. Garcia also put in work on the defensive side of the ball, making ten total tackles (2.0 for loss) and defending one pass.

John Paul II didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, a 54-6 defeat against Premont on the 5th. As for St. Anthony, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next contest, a 43-13 loss against New Braunfels Christian Academy on the 5th.
