League recap: Wise dominating on the mound for Central Mountain

Central Mountain's Luke Wise was the best pitcher in the league this week. He won one game and struck out 10 batters.

After a week in which it went 1-0, the Wildcats jumped from 2578 to 2184 in the national rankings, the biggest increase in the league. Central Mountain is currently No. 87 in the Pennsylvania state rankings, with an overall record of 13-5.

Philipsburg-Osceola's pitching was especially stingy this week, allowing three hits and one walks to lead the league in both categories. On the season, the Mountaineers have allowed just 135 hits, while striking out 120 batters. Mark Curtis leads the Mountaineers with 50 strikeouts in 48 innings pitched.

The Wildcats had a league-high 17 steals as a team this week, but still trail Central, which has 110 on the year, for the season lead. Wise has racked up 28 steals on his own this season for Central Mountain.



Philipsburg-Osceola's Curtis led the league in strikeouts this week with 11. With 50 strikeouts this year so far, he ranks first in the league.

The Wildcats' Cayden Stover finished his week with six hits, tops in the league. His 20 hits for the year are fourteenth in the league, and he boasts a .317 batting average.
