Volleyball Recap: Sarcoxie Snaps Four-Game Streak of Losses on the Road

Ash Grove typically has all the answers at home, but on Tuesday Sarcoxie proved too difficult a challenge. They came out on top against the Pirates by a score of 3-1. For the Bears, this counts as revenge for the 3-2 victory the Pirates walked away with the last time they faced one another back in October of 2024.

Sarcoxie had a slow start but a hot finish: after dropping the first set, they turned around to win the next three. The match finished with set scores of 18-25, 25-19, 25-11, 25-11.

Alexis Letts paced Sarcoxie's offense, picking up 27 kills. Letts got some help from Jordyn Misner and her 23 assists. Breann Shumake controlled things from the service line, finishing with three aces.

Sarcoxie's win ended a four-match drought on the road and puts them at 8-15-5. As for Ash Grove, they have been struggling recently as they've lost nine of their last 12 matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 9-11-1 record this season.

Sarcoxie is taking a road trip to challenge Pierce City at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Ash Grove, they will look to defend their home court on Thursday against Skyline at 6:30 p.m.
