Basketball Recap: Gus Peters' Big Game Can't Quite Lead Linn over Fayette

Linn was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their sixth straight defeat. They took a 45-35 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Fayette Falcons. Sadly, that's the second time they've come up short against the Wildcats this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 50-46 last Friday.

Linn lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Gus Peters, who posted 12 points and six steals. That's the most steals Peters has posted since back in January of 2024.

Fayette can attribute much of their success to Charles Alexander, who went 6 for 13 on his way to 18 points in addition to seven boards and five steals. Alexander has been hot, having posted two or more steals the last five times he's played. Blake Braden was another key player, going 5 of 8 en route to 10 points.

Linn's loss dropped their record down to 1-17. As for Fayette, their win bumped their record up to 2-14.

Linn will challenge New Bloomfield at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Fayette, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next matchup, a 67-30 defeat against Salisbury on the 3rd.
