Basketball Recap: St. Benedict at Auburndale Comes Up Short

St. Benedict at Auburndale was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their 18th straight defeat dating back to last season. They were beaten by the Ridgeway Roadrunners 75-48. If the Eagles were looking for revenge after losing 83-53 to them when the teams met, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Leading Ridgeway to victory were Kayin Mitchell and Marjavis Chandler. Mitchell went 9 of 16 on his way to 19 points and five rebounds, while Chandler went 8 of 14 en route to 19 points and three steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Demario Johnson, who almost dropped a double-double on ten points and nine assists.

St. Benedict at Auburndale's loss dropped their record down to 0-9. As for Ridgeway, they moved to 6-5 with that win, which also ended their three-game losing streak.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. St. Benedict at Auburndale and Rossville Christian Academy will compete for holiday cheer at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Ridgeway will take on White Station in a holiday battle at at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
