Jarquez Garrett leads Lafayette to victory over Bruton

The Lafayette Rams posted their closest win yet this season on Wednesday. They had just enough and edged Bruton out 60-57. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.

Jarquez Garrett continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, dropping a double-double on 25 points and 11 steals. He continues to roll, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Asa Fehrenbach, who scored 11 points along with eight rebounds and four steals.

When it comes to explaining why Bruton lost, one person who can't be blamed is Brandon Freeman. Despite the final result, he scored 22 points along with five rebounds and four steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Freeman has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Kareem Davis, who scored nine points.

Even though they lost, Bruton were working as a unit and finished the game with 14 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Lafayette only racked up seven assists.

Lafayette has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 9-2 record this season. As for Bruton, their loss ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 9-3.

Lafayette will head out on the road to face off against New Kent at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. New Kent has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 338 points over their last five matches. As for Bruton, they will be playing at home against Warhill at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Warhill will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Virginia Rankings (they are ranked 227th, while Bruton is ranked 90th).
