Basketball Game Preview: St. Mary's Knights vs. Sunnyslope Vikings

The St. Mary's Knights just played yesterday, but they'll still head out to face the Sunnyslope Vikings at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

On Tuesday, St. Mary's humbled Marcos de Niza with a 46-15 victory. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Knights.

Gwen Carter was her usual excellent self, going 7 of 11 on her way to 17 points. Her evening made it four games in a row in which she has scored at least ten points. Sophia Bryant was another key player, putting up three points along with five boards and four steals.

Meanwhile, Sunnyslope faced Desert Vista in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Tuesday. Sunnyslope took down Desert Vista 58-43.

St. Mary's has also been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests, which provided a nice bump to their 6-9 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 55.5 points per game. As for Sunnyslope, their record now sits at 14-7.

St. Mary's suffered a grim 54-28 defeat to Sunnyslope in their previous meeting back in December of 2022. Can St. Mary's avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
